Originally completed in 1938, the historic Rackham School of Graduate Studies is one of the most beautiful and impressive of the University of Michigan's buildings. The complex is on a direct line with the University Library, and the area in between is a landscaped parkway known as the Mall. Extensive renovation, restoration, and rehabilitation were performed as part of the project.
The main interior spaces involved in the renovation include a 1,200-seat first-floor auditorium, three second-floor study halls, third-floor gallery spaces and three significant conference spaces, and 240-seat amphitheater on the fourth level. HEA commissioned all mechanical and electrical systems, and provided extensive inspection, verification, and testing, deficiency management, and O&M manuals and training.
